What makes the location so good?
Gourmet Stay’s location is without a doubt one of its best selling points. Being close to all the action (Cuba St and Courtenay Place) but still nestled in a quiet street, is something that many of our guests appreciate. The close proximity to the waterfront, nightlife and shopping precincts makes it popular choice.

Is there transportation available to/from the airport?
The Airport Flyer is an express bus service that operates between Wellington Airport and Wellington City. The Service operates every 20 minutes from Wellington Airport and every 20 minutes from Courtenay Place to the airport. The ticket costs approx. $9.00.

Does the hotel provide parking?
Even though we are unable to guarantee an off street car park, we do have two off street day parks. The street parking is very good with many parks available and it is very safe and free overnight. We have never had a problem assisting guests with a safe car park during their stay,  therefore I am sure we will be able to sort out car parking for you too. If you request a carpark by making a booking on the website we will check our schedule and confirm the booking if possible (surcharge applies).

What are Gourmet Stays green policies?
Gourmet Stay is very conscious of waste and recycles cardboard, glass and plastic materials wherever possible. We provide heated towel rails in the rooms to encourage guests to reuse towels and keep them warm and dry. We happily exchange towels that are left on the bathroom floor.

When did Gourmet Stay open?
Gourmet Stay was conceived in 2006 when the original owners returned from living in Europe and wanted to open a small European pensione type accommodation. The planning took a while as the building conversion to rooms, incorporated seismic strengthening to comply with the new building standards. Gourmet Stay first opened its doors in June 2011 and began trading just before the 2011 Rugby world cup. ( which the All Blacks won ! ) In 2014 they renovated the lower level of the Heritage Building at 23 Frederick St to include seismic strengthening and provide three apartment style rooms with kitchenettes, en suites and an upgrade of a manager’s apartment on the upper floor.

What are Gourmet Stays Café and Bar recommendations?
Gourmet Stay are happy to share tourist information, restaurant recommendations, favourite inner city walks and sights with the guests to provide assistance with the activities that interest them. The “ TOP TIPS” blackboard in the entry foyer has a list of the venues, restaurants and bars that are recommended. We regularly change them and would love to hear of your experiences, so we can keep the “top tips” current.
